Flourishing Right Where We Are

IT is fair to say everyone has experienced transition in one form or another: from sleeping to waking, school graduations, returning to reality at the end of an engrossing movie, pregnancy & childbirth, weight loss or gain, a good (or bad) hair day... it's an endless list.

THE Merriam-Webster dictionary defines Transition as “a change from one state or condition to another”.  It’s origin is Latin: transire meaning to ‘go across’, and clearly, some transitions are far easier to navigate than others.

WE are all in a transition like no other in our lifetimes. Covid was sudden. It is global. It is impossible to fully comprehend. The way forward is unclear, undefined and filled with many unanswerable questions. The only thing we know for sure is that life will never look as it did a year ago, and we have literally no idea what to expect going forward.

THROUGHOUT most of my life, travel has been among my top 3 favorite things; particularly with family, especially to places where language and customs are unfamiliar, always for as long as possible and living “like a local” as much as a stranger arriving from far away can devise. Covid put the kibosh on that.

TODAY, for the time being, and until who knows when, travel is a very limited option. Thankfully as an obsessive photo taker, it has been easy to revisit the beautiful and varied places I’ve had the good fortune to visit over the past 15 years.

IT was in that spirit of not knowing when we would be heading off once again to the near, or far, corners of this amazing world that this series of travel essays was born. I sincerely hope you enjoy these #armchairtravels to #placespast. Perhaps some of them will make it to your personal bucket list of places to explore, or revisit, when we next have the chance.

I wish you safe travels from the coziest spot in your house!

A bientot,

MarieZ
